How to create and edit Key Results in Enforcium

Key Results in Enforcium define the measurable outcomes used to evaluate progress toward an Objective. Each Objective can have one or more Key Results, giving teams a practical way to track how much of the desired result has been achieved.

A strong Key Result gives an Objective a measurable dimension. It helps the team understand the expected result and follow progress as work moves forward.

Understanding Key Results

An Objective describes the result a company or team wants to achieve. A Key Result defines a measurable outcome that helps evaluate progress toward that Objective.

Key Results work as part of the wider goal structure in Enforcium. Tasks can also be connected to an Objective, creating a relationship between the desired outcome and the work required to achieve it.

Keep the distinction clear.

  • Objective — the result you want to achieve.
  • Key Result — the measurable outcome used to evaluate progress.
  • Task — the work required to move the goal forward.

Adding Key Results to an Objective

Key Results are added directly to an Objective.

Open the relevant Objective and go to its Key Results section. From there, you can review existing results or create a new one using New Key Result. The Objective card also displays the number of Key Results associated with it.

Each Objective can contain multiple Key Results. This allows one broader goal to be measured through several specific outcomes. Progress across the Key Results contributes to the overall progress of the Objective.

Creating a Key Result

Start from the relevant Objective and select New Key Result.

In the Create Key Result window, first choose the Result Type:

  • Without Metric — describe the expected outcome and track progress manually.
  • With Metric — select a Metric and specify a target value. Enforcium automatically tracks progress based on the selected Metric.

Next, enter the Key Result name. Use a clear statement that describes the measurable outcome you want to achieve.

Set the Timeline to define the period for achieving the result. You can also add a Description with additional context, success criteria, or other information that helps the team understand the expected outcome.

The Ownership section lets you assign participants to the Key Result.

If you select With Metric, choose the relevant Metric and specify its target value. Enforcium uses the Metric data to calculate and update Key Result progress automatically.

If you select Without Metric, progress is tracked manually as the result develops.

Once all required information is entered, click Create Key Result.

The new Key Result is added to the Objective and contributes to its overall progress.

Making Key Results measurable

A Key Result should describe an outcome that can be measured.

Think about the result itself. What value will show that progress has been made? What final result should the team reach?

For example, a Product team working toward improving product adoption could define a Key Result around the percentage of active users who complete a specific product action.

The important part is measurability. A clear value gives the team something concrete to track as the Objective progresses.

A well defined Key Result also makes progress easier to discuss.

  • team members can refer to the current result
  • review how far the Objective has moved
  • identify areas that require attention

Tracking Key Result progress

Key Results contribute to the overall progress of their Objective. As progress changes, the Objective provides a broader view of how much of the expected outcome has been achieved.

The Objective Overview also contains detailed information about its progress, Key Results, Tasks, participants, timeline, comments, and other settings.

This gives managers and team members a useful place to review the current state of the goal.

Editing a Key Result

You can edit an existing Key Result whenever its details or expected result need to be updated.

Open the relevant Objective and find the Key Result you want to change. Click the ⋮ menu on the Key Result card and select Edit key result. Or open the Key Result card and click Edit.

The edit window contains the settings available for the selected Key Result. For a Key Result connected to a Metric, you can update the Metric, Target value, Starting point, Timeline, Description, and Ownership.

The Target value defines the expected result, while the Starting point shows the value used as the starting reference for progress. The Timeline sets the period associated with the Key Result.

You can also update the Description to keep the expected outcome and relevant context clear. Ownership can be adjusted through the available Responsible and Accountable fields.

When the changes are complete, click Save Changes.

If a Key Result needs to be removed, select Delete from the same menu.

Key Results and Tasks

Tasks represent the work required to move an Objective forward. Key Results represent the measurable outcomes used to evaluate that progress.

A team can therefore work with both levels at the same time.

A Key Result might measure a change in customer adoption, while several Tasks cover research, implementation, testing, and communication activities that support that outcome.

This structure gives the team a direct connection between execution and measurable results.
